Will a good Mechanic repair or service a vehicle without inspecting the same vehicle?
How will feel if you are sure your Mechanic went straight to service / repair your car without inspection and yet still bill you for the inspection exercise?
A SAD REALITY
Some vehicle owners (processing renewal of their Certificate of Roadworthiness) will not only be happy to evade (avoid) the compulsory Computerized Vehicle Inspection (Test) on their vehicle after paying for the same but will also be willing to spent more if they could be allowed not to participate in The Compulsory Vehicle Inspection Test.
Are you one of them?
Below story was curled from BBIC NG Facebook page (posted on April 26, 2023) is for the reading pleasure and consideration of all.
… I CHOOSE NOT TO BE ONE OF THEM …
The Auto Technician (Mechanic) was shocked at the anger displayed by his new customer who was informed on the cost of servicing his vehicle. He silently prayed never to lose this promising customer who could be classified among his HNC (High Net Worth Customers).
Mechanic : Oga abeg sorry o (Sir, please I am sorry), but I no charge you o (but I did not charge you much).
Mr. Moses Obong : You should be sorry for yourself! How could you ask me to pay NGN200,000.00 without any inspection on the vehicle? How then do I know what I am paying for?
Mr. Moses Obong : Do you think I am plucking money from the tree?
Mechanic : Okay sir (he began to inspect the vehicle brought in by Mr Moses for servicing)
A SOBBER REFLECTION
As Mr. Moses was driving out of the Mechanic garage / Workshop, his mind recalled how people dislike going to LACVIS for Compulsory Computerised Vehicle Inspection Test while processing Certificate of Roadworthiness for their vehicles:
• It wastes lots of their precious time
• Corrupt Officials there rather than being of help will prefer to make things worth to extort money from yielding clients
• Is simply a waste precious time especially if the vehicle in question fails the test at the end
Hence, some will prefer to evade the inspection test by bribing corrupt officials and Agents with double (or more) amount of what they paid for the Vehicle Inspection in order to be issued a false / forged Inspection Result, and subsequently undeserved Certificate of Roadworthiness based on the false result.
“If I am angry that the Mechanic could not carry out manual inspection to know what to service in my car, why should I for any reason deny myself of the Computerised Inspection that will reveal much better what could possibly cause an accident which should be addressed while servicing my vehicle if need be?” He pondered “Is it not to confirm that my vehicle is safe on the road for me and other road users?”.
“But this car being in good order is for my safety, my life, and by extension the wellbeing of my loved ones, dependants and more that may be affected in the event of an accident with the vehicle”.
“I chose not to be one of them” He muttered to himself.
