Recall that I was influenced to imbibe the preference of Ikeja Number Plates and the like to be the best and hence do have it as a first consideration for our clients.

But our years of experience in Motor Vehicle Administration with respect to Auto Registration have made me to know better.

There are parameters that could make any Number Plate the best when all are present but could also make a Number Plate to be the worst Number Plate when they are absent.

We desire to share these parameters and have our readers informed on the same. They are to be checked and ticked before adjudging a particular Number Plate to be the best (for you) or otherwise.

THE 7 ESSENCE OF PROPER VEHICLE REGISTRATION

Professionally, it is the Auto Registration is carried out with a given Number Plate meeting the essence of the same registration that can make the Number Plate the best or the worst to the owner as well as the user of the same.

Below are 7 essence of Auto Registration as the parameters referred to in above and they includes but not limited to:

  1. Proper Vehicle Identification
  2. Security of the Vehicle
  3. Tax Compliance Monitoring on The Vehicle
  4. Guaranteed Safety of the Vehicle User and Other Road Users
  5. Right of Ownership Protection of the Vehicle Owner
  6. Number Plate Compatible with relevant DBMS (Data Base Management Systems) of relevant Government Vendors, Agencies or Parastatals including:
  • Nigeria Police Force (NPF)
  • Vehicle Inspection Services (VIS)
  • Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA)
  • Courtevillie Business Solutions PLC (AUTOREG)
  • Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA)
  1. Enables Ease of Necessary Verifications as and When Needed

Any Number Plate with which some or all the parameters above are lacking will be of limited use and value to the owner / user, hence cannot be adjudged to be the best Number Plate irrespective of how it has been designed (e.g. with Ikeja Number, etc) or how it has been customized (e.g. HON. 123 KJ, etc).

CONCLUSION

The Number Plate with you is the best for you if it meets the parameters that make up the essence of Vehicle Registration by virtue of proper vehicle registration process carried out with it.

While some Number Plates fails to meet some of the parameters above due to improper vehicle registration process followed (by the vehicle owner or his / her Agent), some others fail to meet up (especially some customized Number Plates) due to their incompatibility with relevant database systems and more available in the country.
